Help improve Ikimotion
Help improve Ikimotion is a per-project setting that shares what happens in a project with the Ikimotion team. It is off by default. Nothing is recorded or uploaded for a project while it is off.
What is shared
While the setting is on, the project shares:
- Every edit, with its values before and after, and who made it: the display name and an anonymous browser id (a random id this browser keeps; it is not linked to an account).
- The PSD files imported into the project (the original files).
- Snapshots of the project, taken when sharing starts, after each import and export, and every few hundred edits.
- Tool usage events: which tools, commands, undo and redo, and dialogs are used, with their times.
No email addresses or IP addresses are stored.
Why
We use it to find and fix bugs, understand how the app is used, improve features, and develop new ones, including rigging assistance that learns from how rigs are built (machine learning).
Who it applies to
The setting belongs to the project, not to a person: when it is on, it covers everyone who works in the project. Every collaborator, including reviewers on a view-only link, sees a banner at the top of the editor while it is on: “This project shares its edits, artwork and tool usage to help improve Ikimotion.” The banner stays until the setting is turned off.
Turning it on
- Open the project and click Share in the top bar.
- Turn on Help improve Ikimotion.
- Read the confirmation, which lists what is shared and why, and click Turn on.
Only people with the editing link can change the setting; view-only links cannot.
Turning it off
Click Turn off in the banner, or turn off Help improve Ikimotion in the Share panel. It takes effect at once for everyone in the project: nothing more is recorded or uploaded, and an upload that is still running stops.
Deleting shared data
In the Share panel, click Delete shared data and confirm. Everything the project shared (edits, PSD files, snapshots and tool usage) is deleted, and the setting is turned off for everyone in the project. Deleting cannot be undone. The project itself is not affected.
