Accounts and sign-in
Projects belong to accounts. You sign in once per browser; the start page and every project
need an account, while view-only review links (/r/<code>) open without one.
Signing in
Opening Ikimotion Studio while signed out shows the sign-in page. After signing in you land where you were going: a project link you opened, for example, opens right after.
Every method leads to the same account, and signing in for the first time creates it:
| Method | How it works |
|---|---|
| Sign in with a passkey | Uses a passkey saved on this device or in your password manager (fingerprint, face or device PIN). Where the browser supports it, your passkeys also appear in the suggestions of the Email field. |
| Continue with Google / Continue with Discord | Signs in through that service. The buttons appear when the service is available. |
| Email me a sign-in link | Type your email and press the button; the email holds a link that signs you in. Open it and press Continue to Ikimotion. The link works once, for 15 minutes. |
| Use a password instead | Email and password. Forgot your password? sends a link to choose a new one (valid for 30 minutes); setting it signs out every other device. |
Create an account with a password asks for the name collaborators see, your email and a password of at least 10 characters. Passwords known from data breaches are refused. A verification email follows; open its link and press Confirm my email.
If an attempt at Google or Discord fails or is cancelled, the sign-in page says why; try again or use another method.
Passkeys
A passkey replaces the password: your device confirms it is you with a fingerprint, face or PIN, nothing has to be remembered, and it cannot be phished. After you sign in another way, Ikimotion offers to add one (Add a passkey now, or Not now to be asked again later).
In Account settings › Passkeys you can add more (one per device or password manager), rename them and remove them. Removing a passkey here stops it from working; also delete it from the device or password manager to tidy up.
The account menu
Your picture (or initial) at the top right of the editor and of the start page opens the account menu: your name, Account settings and Sign out. On the start page the menu button also shows your name.
Account settings
| Section | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Profile | Change the name collaborators see (it is also your name in every project, see Your name). Shows your email, whether it is verified, and Resend verification email while it is not. |
| Password | Set a password, change it (with the current one) or remove it. |
| Linked accounts | Link a Google or Discord account to sign in with it too, or Unlink it. |
| Passkeys | Add, rename and remove passkeys. |
| Where you are signed in | Every browser signed in to the account, with how and when it signed in and when it was last active; This device marks the one you are using. Sign out ends one session; Sign out everywhere ends all of them, this one included. |
| Delete account | See below. |
You cannot remove your last way to sign in (the only password, passkey or linked account): add another one first.
Linking Google or Discord
Press Link next to the service and sign in there. Signing in with Google or Discord for the first time, when that service account uses the same email as an existing Ikimotion account, asks first: Link Google to the account you@example.com? Confirm links them, and from then on either way signs in to the same account; Cancel changes nothing.
Deleting your account
Account settings › Delete account deletes the account with its sign-in methods, passkeys and sessions, and signs you out. Type your email (or, for an account without one, your name) to confirm, then press Delete my account. Deleting cannot be undone.
Projects, roles and invite links
Every project has members, each with a role. Share in the top bar shows yours (Your role) and, for the owner, who else is in the project.
| Role | Can |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything an editor can, plus invite people, change their roles and remove them. The account that created the project. |
| Editor | Open and change the project, and copy its view-only review link. |
| Viewer | Open the project and follow along, without changing anything. |
The Project link (/p/<id>) opens the project for its members. Everyone else needs an
invite link:
- As the owner, open Share › Invite people.
- Press Copy editor invite link or Copy viewer invite link and send the link.
- Whoever opens it, signed in (or after signing in), joins the project with that role. An invite never lowers a role someone already has.
Invite links keep working, for anyone who has them, until the owner presses Revoke all invite links. In Members the owner changes a member’s role (Editor / Viewer) or Removes them; the change applies at once, also to someone who has the project open.
Opening a project you are not a member of shows You do not have access to this project: ask the owner for an invite link, or use Sign in as someone else.
Projects created before accounts existed start open: anyone signed in who opens the project link becomes an editor (the first one the owner). The owner sees Anyone signed in with the project link can edit (older project). and can press Make members-only to require invite links from then on; this cannot be switched back.
View-only review links (/r/<code>) work as before, without an account: see
Preview and share link.
